Ricoh RDC 5300 Product Info
Features
The 2.3 million pixel RDC-5300
includes powerful features that enable a wide variety of applications such as 3x optical
zoom, 4cm Super Macro for close-up shots, continuous shooting capability, time lapse and
Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection. It incorporates buffer memory so that it is able to
perform rapid sequential shooting in intervals of less than two seconds. The camera also
includes 8MB on-board memory for storing images, and is compatible with an up to 64MB
SmartMedia card.
Excellent Image Quality
The RDC-5300 features a
1.8-inch LCD monitor and an optical viewfinder for perfect image composition and capture.
Photographers can choose resolution of either 1792 x 1200 pixels(2.3 million) or 896 x 600
pixels. The higher resolution enables sharp, detailed 8 x 10 prints to be produced by a
standard ink jet printer. A 640 x 480 resolution may also be obtained using 2.5x digital
zoom, providing a perfect resolution for on-line usage. Images are captured in JPEG file
formatan easy to use file format for e-mailing or for adding images to
websites. Three compression modes are available in each resolutionfine, normal
or economyenabling varying levels of detail and storage capacity.
Powerful Features
Equal Ease-of-Use
The RDC-5300 has all of the
features of a conventional 35mm camera and more, so it appeals to all photographic
skill-sets. It features point-and-shoot convenience for novices as well as manual override
options for experienced photographers. The RDC-5300 has a 3x optical zoom(38-114mm
equivalent). The zoom lens also has more flexibility than a single focal lens and includes
the equivalent of wide, normal and telephoto capabilities. And the camera includes a
seamless autofocus 4cm Super Macro feature that can enlarge the image frame by 69%,
compared to an ordinary macro mode.
The RDC-5300 allows users to
produce professional quality photos by using on-board effects. The camera features rapid
sequential shooting that offers one image to be shot in less than two seconds increments
for capturing pictures so that the user does not miss photo opportunities. Another effect,
Time Lapse Mode, is a built-in timer that captures images automatically from 30-second
intervals up to three hours. Time Lapse allows photographers to accurately record a series
of actions as they evolve, from flowers blooming to sunrises.
The RICOH RDC-5300 includes
auto focus; auto exposure; auto flash; auto white balance control; manual override with
exposure compensation; manual flash on/off, and white balance control
(Daylight/Overcast/Fluorescent/Tungsten). Manual override enables the exposure to be
adjusted and deactivation of the flash save battery power as well allowing special photo
lighting effects. The built-in flash also includes red eye reduction. The RDC-5300
includes Universal Serial Bus (USB) for faster image transfer and downloading of images as
well as a serial port.
The RDC-5300 has switchable
quadlingual (English, French, German and Japanese) on-screen-display to meet growing
international demand for flexibility. It also provides selectable NTSC or PAL video-out
signal for international traveling and external photo presentations.
Flexible Image Storage
The RDC-5300 includes 8MB
on-board memory and will allow the addition of an up to 64MB SmartMedia card. Because of
the on-board memory, even without the SmartMedia card, photo-shooting opportunities will
not be missed. Furthermore, the use of the on-board memory and SmartMedia allow the super
efficient transfer of images. Images can, for example, be transferred from the on-board
memory to the SmartMedia card, and even from the SmartMedia memory card to the on-board
memory.
The RDC-5300 has unique input
features that function with the SmartMedia card. Owing to the sequential file numbering
function, it registers images as consecutive numbers as opposed to starting again at the
same number so that the user will not be presented with the same number. This eliminates
doubling (or overwriting) of file names when downloaded to computers. And, when using
on-board memory, the user can chose Secret Mode for individual images, which prevents
viewing on the camera without the password.
The camera emulates a disk
drive when connected via USB, allowing the user to simply drag and drop files from the
camera to a computer in which Windows 98 or Macintosh OS 8.5 or higher is installed.
Unique Feature Set
Packed with exciting features
that photographers will enjoy, the RDC-5300 includes a date imprinting capability that
automatically documents the date images were taken, an important feature for certain
applications such as insurance or legal. The market for digital imaging has continued to
provide more than color-only images. The RDC-5300 offers black and white and antique or
sepia tones, which allows photographers to experiment artistically.
When Auto Bracket Exposure is
selected, three shots are automatically taken. As well as normal level exposure, +0.5 EV
and -0.5 EV are produced to meet the needs of creative professional-level photographers
seeking subtle photographic expression.
Sleek Design Offers
Convenience and Comfort
The camera features a sleek
new design and weighs only 350g without batteries. It has a large grip, so it can be
firmly held. The new camera also includes a protective LCD barrier switch to
simultaneously turn on the camera and extend the zoom lens -- this protects and blocks the
LCD monitor when closed. Furthermore, the LCD can be closed, even with the power on, thus
conserving battery life and ensuring the LCD is always protected.
And an external flash terminal
with synchronized signal output for external flash is built into the camera to enhance
various flash photography.
