Professional Digital Photography

The ePhoto CL50 is a high-performing digital camera for business professionals and technology enthusiasts who require advanced features, ease-of-use and a photo-quality, mega-pixel image. The CL50 offers a maximum resolution of 1.9 million pixels (1600 x 1200) with Agfa PhotoGenie™.

The ePhoto® CL50 is distinguished by superlative technology and unparalleled image quality. The elegant and sophisticated interface of this camera allows for a high degree of quick and easy exposure control. The CL50's 3x zoom lens gets you that much closer to the subject without moving. The photographer has the choice of viewfinder shooting or viewing from the LCD. Preprogrammed buttons provide instant mode changes, i.e. flash-on, red eye, off, etc. The ePhoto CL50 is capable of producing 360-degree panoramic shots with its accompanying PhotoWise® software, and you can annotate each photograph with voice for future reminders and record-keeping.

Energy-saving Features

A number of energy-saving features have been built into the CL50 to reduce the frequency of battery changes when shooting in the field. To address the issue of battery consumption and an LCD that "washes out" in bright sunlight, the ePhoto CL50 includes SunCatcher™, a built-in prism which directs sunlight behind the LCD screen, conserves battery power and enhances its overall brightness.

The ePhoto CL50's QuickReview feature allows users to control whether to keep or erase a photo immediately after capturing it. After taking a picture, the image is displayed on the LCD with the option to save or delete the photo. The picture can be deleted immediately—even before the image has been saved to the SmartMedia card.

Immediate Print Quality Images with Exceptional Color

The remarkable PhotoGenie technology, built into the PhotoWise software, ultimately delivers an image of just under two million pixels. This amount of information will fill a 5" x 7" area with a 150 line screen, at a quality factor of over 1.5 pixels per printed dot. PhotoWise also gives you the power to correct color biases from less than ideal lighting conditions. For quick photo editing and color corrections, the "quick-fix" button gives great results with minimum effort. In addition to the photo-editing capabilities of the PhotoWise software, it has database capabilities based on an intuitive filing paradigm. Because it is a true database, you can do searches based on any criteria; and then produce groups for output or viewing based on those criteria. PhotoWise is a powerful photo organization tool, but is as intuitive as a child's computer game.

High Quality Down to the Details

The engineers and designers of the ePhoto CL50 paid special attention to both the technological functions and the very basic ergonomic details of this camera. The viewfinder zooms with the lens for accurate image composition. Even the satin-finished vinyl parts are strategically placed to provide a comfortable feel and secure grip when shooting.

Agfa's ePhoto CL50 is of exceptional quality, backed by the strongest name in electronic imaging equipment. High-quality photographs are the primary and final concern of our camera designers—and that is what you'll get with the ePhoto CL50.

Can I manually adjust camera settings with the ePhoto CL50?
Like the ePhoto 1680 and the ePhoto 1280, the ePhoto CL50 offers both automatic and manual control over exposure, focus, and white balance. For the photographer or experienced user, manual control is extremely handy under difficult shooting situations or when achieving specific effects. You can lock the focus at 1, 2, 5 meters or infinity. The manual focus control is especially useful under low-light conditions when the auto focus may not be able to perceive enough contrast to work efficiently. Like its predecessors, the CL50 also has several exposure settings. You can specify aperture priority or manual exposure which simply lightens or darkens a photo. In addition to this, you can preset the light metering at centre weighted, spot, or matrix.

What file formats are my images saved in with the ePhoto CL50?
Images from the ePhoto CL50 are saved in the industry-standard JPEG format. These images are application ready and can be used immediately. Within the PhotoWise application you can preset to download the camera images into other file formats like TIFF, BMP, FlashPix, Targa.

Is the CL50 compatible with higher capacity SmartMedia™ cards?
The ePhoto CL50 is compatible with 32 MB SmartMedia™ cards. You can also use 2 MB, 4 MB, 8 MB, and 16 MB memory cards.

Does the ePhoto CL50 have a rapid shot mode?
Yes. The ePhoto CL50 features a burst mode, allowing you to hold the shutter for continuous shots at half second intervals for up to 10 shots (in 640 x 480 or VGA resolution only).

What is the ePhoto CL50 QuickReview feature?
The ePhoto CL50 QuickReview feature allows you to control whether to keep or to erase a photo immediately after capturing it. After taking the picture, the image is displayed on the LCD with the option to save or delete the photo. The picture can be deleted immediately — even before the image has been saved to the SmartMedia™ card. QuickReview is especially handy, since every user inevitably takes a shot that is not worth saving, which is often realized immediately. In addition, for any image that you want to save, QuickReview allows you to record a voice memo to the picture.

What can you tell me about the voice annotation feature?
The ePhoto CL50 is the first ePhoto camera equipped with the ability to attach up to 10 seconds of sound to each picture. This allows you to add comments or sound to each picture. This is especially useful in fields such as real estate, education, law enforcement, medicine, insurance, or in any other specialty requiring documentation, identification, or labeling.

After you take a picture, the QuickReview option lets you record sound without switching to PLAY mode:

1. Press the QuickReview button on top of the camera to activate this option.
2. During processing, press the arrow button to select Voice Memo. (When processing is completed, you see the     prompt: Record Sound?).
3. Press OK to record your sound message (up to 10 seconds). Speak into the microphone, which is next to the color     LCD. A progress bar shows you how much time you have left to record.
4. At the end of the recording, a confirmation screen appears. Select either Save to keep the recording or Exit to leave     the menu without saving the recording.

Note:
You can listen to the sound after you connect the camera to a TV or transfer the image to a computer. You can also add a recording or change it after you capture the image in PLAY mode.

What is the ePhoto CL50 SunCatcher™?
To capture photos, you can use either the traditional optical viewfinder or the 2" LCD screen. While most digital cameras with LCDs are difficult to use in bright sunlight, the ePhoto CL50 overcomes this problem with its unique SunCatcher™ panel—a built-in prism which directs sunlight behind the LCD to conserve battery power and enhance LCD brightness. With SunCatcher™, you use the LCD to record pictures in extremely sunny conditions. Using the SunCatcher™ conserves batteries and enhances LCD brightness.

Does the ePhoto CL50 support digital zoom?
